“Brave Warrior” was the theme of the Mississippi Church of God of Prophecy’s Subteen Camp, held June 12-17, 2019 at Kamp Kumbaya near Eupora, Mississippi. The annual summer camp, this year under the direction of Billy and Renea Stevens, serves children ages 9-11. The theme scripture was Joshua 1:9, “Be bold and courageous, do not be afraid, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

The camp offered a wide variety of activities aimed at helping children grow in their faith and develop relationships with their fellow campers. Each morning, campers attended elective courses that helped them develop a new skill, such as archery, baking, art, music, drama, golfing, and wildlife exploration. A daily Bible class was taught by Michelle Clause, children’s pastor of the Union Grove Church of God of Prophecy. Campers also had opportunities to participate in games, water activities, and swimming throughout each day.

Campers competed in various activities throughout the week and were placed on “color teams” that helped them interact and socialize beyond the relationships they’d formed in their own cabins. On the final day, campers enjoyed a full day of water activities including a large inflatable competitive water slide.

International Director of Children’s Ministries Shaun McKinley served as the camp evangelist, presenting sermons each evening on the life of Joshua.

The Holy Spirit ministered throughout the week, as the children entered the Lord’s presence in powerful times of worship. On the final evening, several children who participated in the drama elective class, presented a shadow drama depicting a child being rescued by Jesus from several “waves” of tribulation.

At the conclusion of the week, 41 children reported accepting Christ as their personal Savior, 24 were sanctified, 9 baptized in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues, several called to ministry, and physical healings.

International Children’s Ministries praises God for this camp, just one testimony of what God did this summer through the camping ministry!
