The entire time Jesus was with His disciples, not only was he giving them knowledge or helping them to apply that knowledge to their lives, but he was also helping them learn to serve others. Teaching our children to serve adds a whole new dimension to their spiritual life. They begin to realize that everything is not about them! In fact, life should not be about us at all. Jesus modeled that life lesson for all of us through his death.
KidServe exists to teach children to give back to their community and to help others. Service within the framework of discipleship is not just about giving to others. It is about serving God and bringing glory to his name by reaching out others. Jesus made it very clear that when do something for others, we are really doing it for Him!
How do we teach children to be servants of God?
We give them opportunities to serve their community and the world, their local church, and their family and friends!
Community and World
In the Bible, God repeatedly asks us to take care of those who cannot care for themselves. Children CAN serve the community and be involved in missions!
The Local Church
We need to teach children that a church is not a building; it is the people! And children are people. Children CAN serve in their local church!
Family and Friends
Many children have parents, brothers, and sisters who do not know Christ. Often our greatest witness is through our actions. Children CAN serve their family and friends!
Testify Around the World
What began as a beautiful vision from Sister Kelly Coalter to fill the Christmas tree at the Church of God of Prophecy International Offices with ornaments created by children from around the world has grown into a meaningful opportunity to celebrate the faith and testimonies of the next generation. Through Testify Around the World, CGPKids invites children across the globe to create and share ornaments that reflect their faith, culture, and personal stories of God’s goodness. Each ornament is a reminder that no matter where we live or what language we speak, we are united by the incredible story of what God is doing in our lives.
This year, we are continuing our Testify theme by encouraging children to share their own testimonies through their ornaments. Whether it is a story of answered prayer, God’s provision, salvation, or His faithfulness in everyday moments, we believe every child has a story worth sharing!
To help families and churches participate, we have created a FREE downloadable lesson, available in English and Spanish. This resource helps parents and children’s ministry leaders teach children what a testimony is, why sharing our stories matters, and how to creatively express their personal testimonies through ornament-making. Ornaments collected from around the world will be available for purchase at the upcoming Institute of Children’s Ministry (ICM), with 100% of proceeds benefiting KidServe, helping children continue to make a difference through missions and service.
