The Church of God of Prophecy International Offices announced on Tuesday a leadership transition for Accredited Ministry Development (AMD) and Spirit and Life Seminary (SLS), as Bishop Dr. Michael Hernandez will conclude his service effective June 19, 2026, to pursue a new professional opportunity.
Dr. Hernandez has served with distinction as the second director of Accredited Ministry Development and the founding president of Spirit and Life Seminary. His leadership, commitment to ministerial formation, and faithful service have made a lasting impact on ministry leaders across the global Church.
“Dr. Hernandez’s dedication and sacrifice have strengthened leadership development throughout our international fellowship,” said Jeffery Davis, executive director of Leadership Development and Discipleship. “His work, particularly in guiding Spirit and Life Seminary through accreditation, has opened significant doors for expanding our global Kingdom impact. We celebrate this next step in his journey and pray God’s continued blessings over him.”
Under Dr. Hernandez’s leadership, Spirit and Life Seminary has reached several historic milestones. In May 2025, Spirit and Life Seminary achieved accreditation through the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (TRACS). This recognition further strengthened the seminary’s standing among Christian higher education institutions and enhanced opportunities for its students
In addition, in September 2025, SLS was approved for participation in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC‑SARA), allowing the seminary to enroll students from all 50 U.S. states. The seminary also achieved record enrollment in 2025, with 313 students engaged in its programs.
SLS continues to expand its global reach. In March 2026, the seminary celebrated its first graduating cohort in the Dominican Republic, with 20 students receiving diplomas during the national convention. Since its inaugural graduation in 2022, Spirit and Life Seminary has graduated nearly 100 students, representing participation from 32 nations.
These milestones reflect the strength of the foundation laid during Dr. Hernandez’s tenure and position the seminary for continued growth and influence in equipping leaders for ministry worldwide.
The Church expresses deep gratitude for Dr. Hernandez’s years of leadership and lasting contributions to ministerial development and theological education. Further information regarding future leadership for Accredited Ministry Development and Spirit and Life Seminary will be shared in the coming weeks.
