Across the historic landscapes of Wider Europe and the Middle East, where ancient faith meets a modern world, the Church of God of Prophecy is steadfast in its mission. In 24 nations, 16,408 members worship in 19 languages, carrying the light of Christ into diverse cultures and communities. Over the past two years, more than 1,000 lives have been transformed through salvation, with hundreds baptized in the Holy Spirit and water, boldly declaring their faith. With 253 churches, 53 missions, and 489 devoted ministers, the gospel is advancing despite challenges, bringing hope to cities, villages, and regions hungry for truth. In a land where history and prophecy intertwine, God’s kingdom continues to grow, one soul at a time.
Bishop Clayton Endecott and his wife Wanda married one year after they graduated from Tomlinson College in 1973. They began a pastorate immediately in Joliet, Illinois moving to El Sobrante, California after one year where he served as associate pastor and youth minister to work under an experienced pastor. They later pastored in Pekin, Illinois for six years where their first two sons were born. During that pastorate he was ordained a bishop, and became a district overseer.
Clayton and Wanda moved with their two sons to Langen, Germany in 1983 to assume a pastorate of a mostly US military church in the Frankfurt, Germany region. They learned German and began to do outreach ministry with a team on the streets to German youth with a Christian coffee house (Teestube). The US church he pastored helped support the German outreach. In 1989 a German church was established in the Endecott’s apartment with their small leadership team. That work has grown and sent out numerous workers. Now there are two well established churches, one in Langen, one in Erlangen near Nuremburg, with over 150 people in each church on Sunday and a third new church which is thriving in Munich. In addition to this there are now several more preaching points and mission projects in other cities of Germany. It is important to note that their ministry has largely been through youth evangelism, discipleship and training, with a vision for camping programs and strong youth and children’s ministries. The current overseer of Germany and Hungary was a young German teenager from their first church fruits. Bishop Endecott began pastoring under his father Clayton Senior’s tutorship and has more than 25 years of pastoral experience, most of it in Europe. Clayton and Wanda moved to Germany for a two year commitment with two sons. They now have a daughter and a third son. All four children are married and serve in the churches in Germany and Europe and the Endecotts have nine grandchildren, and more on the way. They now have resided in Germany and served from there for more than 38 years.
Bishop Endecott was appointed as an overseer in 1993 for Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and Finland. He has served as overseer in Hungary, Romania, the Republic of Georgia, Azerbaijan, the Czech Republic, Cyprus, Greece, Italy, and the Ukraine. In 1998 with the pluralization of the General Overseer’s office, Bishop Endecott was selected and approved as one of the General Presbyters (then Area Presbyter) where he is currently serving. When he began as a presbyter in Europe, the Common Wealth of Independent States and the Middle East, the Church of God of Prophecy was active in 12 nations and we currently have organized churches in 21 nations of the area.
Bishop Clayton as many refer to him, has enjoyed a broad and interesting educational path, most of it after his graduation from Tomlinson College and getting married. His first degree at Illinois State University is in Philosophy and Psychology. He then did graduate studies at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana and was accepted as a doctoral student in 1981; but due to his move to Europe, he left that opportunity. While in Germany he studied biblical languages and theology at Goethe Universität from the German language in Frankfurt. He currently is working on a PhD in Pentecostal constructive theology at Bangor University in Wales in the United Kingdom.
He has served as a member of the official Catholic-Pentecostal Dialogues initiated from the Vatican for 5 years, as well as with other ecumenical organizations and gatherings. He has served for the past decade as a member of the board of the European Theological Seminary in Kniebis, Germany which is an institution of the Church of God. He has served on various committees in Europe, and on the then Tomlinson College Advisory Committee.
Clayton and Wanda have many visions and passions, but their primary commitment has been and remains that of spiritual formation of emerging leaders who will raise up church planters and pastors. They have shared a bible verse that guided them through Tomlinson College, was part of their wedding service and continues to guide them in all they do. “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15 (NKJV)
