The Church of God of Prophecy joyfully announces the release of Kami Adalah Gereja Tuhan Di Indonesia (Church of God of Prophecy), the Indonesian (Bahasa Indonesia) translation of We Are the Church of God of Prophecy. This translation represents another important step in making the message of our movement accessible to believers around the world, in the languages that speak to their hearts.
Bahasa Indonesia is a remarkable language—a symbol of unity in a nation of immense diversity. Across the Indonesian archipelago, more than 700 local languages are spoken, yet Bahasa Indonesia serves as the official tongue, binding millions of people together from countless ethnic and linguistic backgrounds. It is a language of connection, trade, and national identity, making it one of the most fascinating and unifying languages in the world.
The language itself is rooted in Malay, historically used as a trade language across Southeast Asia. Over time, it absorbed words from Dutch, Sanskrit, Arabic, Chinese, and English, giving it a rich and distinctive flavor. Its grammar is elegantly simple—without verb conjugations, gendered nouns, or complicated plurals—making it accessible to new learners and clear for communication. This linguistic beauty mirrors the Church’s own mission to bring clarity and unity through the simplicity of the gospel.
With a Latin-based alphabet and largely phonetic spelling, Indonesian is easy to read and pronounce. Yet, embedded within it is a deep sense of respect and community. The language distinguishes between formal and familiar ways of speaking— between Saya and Aku for “I,” or Bapak (Sir) and Ibu (Madam)—reflecting the honor and humility valued in Indonesian culture.
This translation effort, coordinated through the International Offices’ Global Communications and Publications Department in collaboration with national leadership in Indonesia, ensures that our 16,520 members there can study, teach, and share the message of the Church of God of Prophecy in their own language. Indonesia is the world’s fourth most populous nation and the largest Muslim-majority country. Making this resource available in Bahasa Indonesia helps strengthen the witness of our churches and supports discipleship and evangelism throughout the islands.
Editor and Publications Coordinator Marsha Robinson expressed her gratitude for this milestone:
Our mission has always been to make the message of who we are as a Spirit-filled, Christ-centered movement available to every believer in their own language. Translating this booklet into Bahasa Indonesia is a powerful declaration that the Church of God of Prophecy truly belongs to the nations.
This new translation joins the growing family of We Are the Church of God of Prophecy editions in English, Spanish, French, Creole, Ewe, and Italian, with other languages soon to come. It will serve pastors, members, and new believers as an introduction to the Church’s heritage, vision, and mission.
As the Church continues to grow throughout Asia and beyond, Kami Adalah Gereja Tuhan Di Indonesia (Church of God of Prophecy) stands as a reminder that the message of Christ transcends borders and tongues. Through every translation, we affirm that we are one body, many members, proclaiming one Lord and one Spirit to the world.
“For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body . . . and we were all given the one Spirit to drink” (1 Corinthians 12:13 NIV).
