Central America Gathers for “One Life, One Mission” Global Conference

The One Life, One Mission Global Conference united 1,600 youth, equipping them for ministry through worship, training, and powerful teachings.

On November 21–23, 2024, Tegucigalpa, Honduras, became the epicenter of an international event that marked a “before and after” in youth ministry at a continental level. The “One Life, One Mission” Global Conference, held at CEAD’s (Centro Evangelístico Asambleas de Dios/ Assemblies of God Evangelistic Center) facilities, brought together 1,600 young people from more than 20 countries in Central America, the Caribbean, South America, and the United States. It was a transforming experience full of inspiration, learning, and unity that focused on expanding the kingdom of God.

The event was sponsored by the region of Mexico, Central America, and the Spanish-speaking Caribbean, under the leadership of Bishop Benjamin Feliz, and organized by the National Youth Ministries of Honduras. The Global Conference stood out for its excellence in planning, the diversity of its participants, and the spiritual and academic depth of its activities.

A Historic Continental Meeting

The atmosphere at CEAD during those three days was unparalleled. Young people from different cultures and backgrounds gathered with a single purpose: to affirm their calling and commit to fulfilling God’s mission. Representatives from Spanish- and English-speaking countries in the Caribbean, Central and South America, and the United States, gave testimony of the unity and diversity that characterize the body of Christ.

The presence of internationally renowned speakers enriched the event. Among them were the following:

  • Dr. Salvatierra, dean of Fuller Seminary, who challenged the audience with each of her sessions
  • Dr. Jorge Patpatian, from Uruguay, who spoke on the challenge of mental health and sexuality
  • Dr. Elías Rodríguez, who opened the Global Conference and presented the biblical basis for the mission

Also in attendance were Dr. Gabriel E. Vidal, presbyter of South America; Bishop Kirk Rising, International Youth Ministries director; and the presbyter of Mexico, Central America, and the Spanish-speaking Caribbean, Bishop Benjamin Feliz. These and other speakers, with their excellent presentations, left an indelible impression on the young people present, motivating them to embrace their mission and commit themselves to God’s work in their respective countries and communities.

Major Activities

The conference program included various activities designed to equip and motivate attendees. The following were among the highlights:

  • Keynote lectures: Keynote speakers provided insightful and relevant teachings on key topics. Each session was a call to action, challenging young people to step out of their comfort zones and become agents of change.
  • Workshop for key leaders: A one-day workshop was held exclusively for key leaders from more than 20 countries during the event. It was a space for learning and exchanging experiences, where strategies to strengthen youth ministry were discussed.
  • Discussion forums: In these spaces, young people had the opportunity to discuss current issues affecting Christian youth, and the speakers had the opportunity to answer many of their questions.
  • Talent afternoon: One of the most exciting activities was the talent afternoon, where participants were able to showcase their artistic gifts and skills, from music to poetry. This event highlighted the creativity and potential of young people as instruments to glorify God.
  • Worship times: Music and worship were fundamental pillars of the conference. The worship team led moments of deep connection with God, creating an environment where the Holy Spirit moved powerfully.

The One Life, One Mission Global Conference was not only a training event but also a time of consecration and commitment. The sermons challenged attendees to live purposefully, be faithful to God’s call, and influence their communities.

The testimonies of the young participants confirmed the impact of the event. Each returned home with a renewed vision and a heart on fire for the gospel. The unity experienced at this conference reminded us that although we are diverse, we share the same calling and Lord.

The One Life, One Mission Global Conference set a precedent in the history of youth ministry. It was a historic time that reminded attendees of the importance of investing in the younger generation and equipping them to fulfill their mission in Christ.
