For more than 20 years, Ina and her husband prayed for a child. After more than 25 years of marriage, they continued to believe that God had not forgotten their prayer.
One day, while reading the story of the birth of John the Baptist, Ina felt God speak something very personal to her through the words, “You will have great joy.” She believed God was telling her that she would have a son. Just three months later, she discovered she was pregnant. Today, that answered prayer is a five-year-old boy.
Ina says that even at such a young age, her son has a remarkable love for Jesus. He tells his friends about God, prays for them, and loves to tell stories about God’s miracles and the power of prayer. Their family lives in Novovorontsovka, in Ukraine’s Kherson region, where life has been deeply affected by the war and the destruction of the Kakhovka Reservoir. Water is now available only once a week. One day, after accidentally swallowing some unsafe water, Ina’s young son became frightened and ran to her, asking her to pray that he would not die. Together, they prayed and trusted God.
For Ina, that moment revealed something beautiful about her son’s faith. In the middle of circumstances that would frighten any child, he knows where to turn. When the shelling begins and their lives feel threatened, he prays and trusts God.
Ina’s testimony is a beautiful reminder that God’s faithfulness is not limited by time, circumstances, or even a war zone. The little boy she prayed for over 20 years is now learning to pray for others— and his faith is becoming a testimony of its own.
