Samoa National Convention
We were blessed to welcome Bishop Tim McCaleb, General Presbyter for Asia, Australia, and Oceania, along with his wife, Sister Sheena, to American Samoa. Their visit was in preparation for the Samoa Islands National Convention, held in Apia, Samoa, from July 25–27, under the powerful theme “Walking in Alignment with God.” Upon their arrival, Bishop Nonito Que and Sister Elaine greeted them with warmth and honor, offering traditional ulas as a symbol of love and respect. The McCalebs joined pastors, leaders, and members from across the Samoa Islands in Apia on July 24.
Bishop McCaleb, who has served in ministry since becoming a licensed minister in 1980, traveled from Cleveland, Tennessee, to minister to the people of the Pacific. His presence brought encouragement, vision, and a timely word from the Lord.
The Samoa Islands National Convention, held every two years, is a gathering of believers hungry for deeper fellowship and renewed purpose. This year’s theme, “Walking in Alignment with God,” called every attendee to evaluate their steps and make sure they are in sync with God’s direction and calling.
The convention began with vibrant praise and worship led by the Sinamoga Worship Team on July 25, 2025, in Faleula, Samoa. Delegates from Tafuna COGOP, Leone, Sinamoga, and Faleula gathered under the theme verse, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way” (Psalm 37:23).
Following the opening flag ceremony, the evening service started at 6:00 p.m. The Sinamoga Worship Team led the worship, followed by the opening message from Bishop Noni and powerful words from Bishop McCaleb that set the tone for a weekend filled with God’s presence.
Faith-Building Seminars and Testimonies
Day two opened with a devotional from Bishop Noni on “Morning Manna.” Delegates then joined breakout sessions:
Discerning the Voice of God – Bishop Tim McCaleb
Men in Alignment – Lay Minister Toni Fauena
Positioned for Purpose – Sister Sheena McCaleb
Finding Direction in Life – Sister Elizabeth Paras
The sessions concluded with a group discussion full of heartfelt testimonies. Sister Gwen, Sister Sheena, and Sister Beth shared how God had realigned their lives, finances, and purpose. One sister reminded all of Jesus’s promise: “But seek ye first the kingdom of God . . .” (Matthew 6:33).
Youth Celebration and Divine Encouragement
The evening continued with worship by the Faleula Church and joyful youth presentations from the Tafuna, Sinamoga, and Faleula churches. Singing, dancing, and laughter filled the room as youth honored God with their talents. Bishop Noni delivered a powerful sermon on divine alignment, sharing his own testimony of healing and surrender. His message stirred hearts to fully yield to God’s will.
Sending Forth with Joy
The final day opened with praise by the Tafuna Worship Team and a meaningful message from Bishop McCaleb on forgiveness and the Lord’s Supper. New deacons, lay ministers, and leaders were appointed and prayed over.
In true Samoan fashion, the convention ended with a generous outpouring of love and gifts for Bishop Tim, Sister Sheena, Bishop Noni, and Sister Elaine, followed by a final flag ceremony and to’onai (shared meal).
It was a powerful and Spirit-filled weekend where lives were strengthened, churches were unified, and God’s presence was tangibly felt. May we continue to walk in alignment with his purpose—empowered, equipped, and encouraged! We give thanks for Bishop Tim McCaleb and Sister Sheena’s visit, and we continue to pray that every believer in the Samoa Islands will walk forward in bold faith—aligned with God’s purpose.
A Message of Love from Bishop McCaleb
Following the powerful Samoa convention, Bishop Noni, Bishop Tim, Sis. Sheena, and Sis. Elaine traveled to Leone. Despite the heavy rain, nothing could stop them from gathering with the church. From the airport—soaking wet but full of joy—they went straight to the SPM Church in Leone.
Though the service began later than usual, the worship team lifted the atmosphere with songs of praise as the congregation waited. When Bishop Noni arrived, he immediately joined in worship, and the sanctuary was filled with a spirit of unity and deep gratitude.
This service was made even more special as Bishop Tim McCaleb delivered a heartfelt sermon based on 1 Corinthians 13. He reminded the church that even if we are gifted with tongues, prophecy, and riches, without love, we gain nothing. He referenced Sister Trish’s exhortation about Cain and Abel, highlighting how envy can destroy, and then called the church to celebrate one another instead of comparing.
“Love is a decision,” Bishop McCaleb emphasized. “It is the greatest gift we can give to one another.”
Fellowship and Farewell
The service ended with a warm and blessed fellowship meal as members brought dishes to share and celebrated God’s continued work in the church. The next day, Bishop Tim and Sister Sheena returned to Tennessee. Before their departure, Bishop Noni and Sister Elaine hosted a meaningful farewell dinner with Sister Trish, her family, and Sister Gwen, sending them off with love and gratitude.
We thank God for his faithfulness and love that binds us together as a church family. Let us continue to walk in love and serve with gladness—all for his glory!
