History
Up until 2016, Quito was the only capital city in South America without a presence of the Church of God of Prophecy (COGOP). Furthermore, the city has historically been challenging for the advancement of the gospel. For this reason, the establishment of the church in that year was a significant achievement. Since its inception, the church has remained steadfast despite the many challenges, such as the pandemic and scarcity of resources, which have made it difficult to meet ongoing commitments, including paying rent, over the years.
Project
Based on our experience, the achievements made, and the clear missional call, the local pastor of the COGOP in Quito has taken the initiative to undertake the project of acquiring a plot of land to build a church of their own. Since 2023, the church has been working tirelessly to reach the goal through fundraising, community prayer, and strategic partnerships.
The completion of this project not only represents the fulfillment of one of the community’s deepest desires but also the building of a stronghold for evangelization and missionary work in Quito. Having their own space will strengthen the congregational identity, expand the scope of ministerial activities, and consolidate the presence of the COGOP in a city, region, and country where the gospel’s advance still faces many challenges.
Achievements
Despite limitations, the COGOP in Quito has demonstrated growth and commitment:
Congregational growth: Following the pandemic, the church experienced a significant increase in membership, growing from 12 to 35 active members, with an average attendance of 50 people.
Missional expansion: Two church planting sites have been established.
Church Planting Sites
Campamento Elías: This place is located in the valleys of Quito within a community without any evangelical churches. It presents a great opportunity to establish the kingdom of God and address an evident spiritual need.
Nuevo Ecuador: Located in the north of the city in one of the most socioeconomically deprived neighborhoods, this area is in urgent need for a church, and the presence of the COGOP can bring hope, transformation, and spiritual light in the midst of adversity.

ECUADOR NATIONAL CONVENTION REPORT
Guayaquil, August 7, 2025
This report outlines our activities during the 32nd National Convention, which took place on June 28–29 of this year, with over 1,500 members and guests in attendance. We were honored by the presence of Presiding Bishop Tim Coalter and South America General Presbyter Gabriel Elías Vidal. The national youth leader of the Church of God, Gerson Barragán, also participated in our convention, and we were delighted to hear both Bishop Coalter and Bishop Vidal speak during the event. We continue to support the theme of the pre-convention, which was held a week earlier, promoting the 100/30 Project, which aims to reach one hundred churches by 2030. We also received reports from the national ministries, as well as updates on the appointments of pastors, church planters, and national leaders, concluding with a prayer of thanksgiving to God for the accomplishments and for the new projects to be developed in the coming years. We want to thank each of our Harvest Partners for their support, both in prayer and through financial assistance, which enables us to continue advancing the work in our country.
