There are many different ways to structure a Vacation Bible school in the summer. The traditional VBS offers a 3-5 day or night program. While still a great option, if you are looking for something different, you might consider these options.
- Have a weekend VBS where parents are invited to attend with their children. Many parents who work during the week would appreciate an opportunity to be part of a summer event with their children.
- Offer a sports camp instead of the traditional VBS. This works great if you have members of your congregation who can share their expertise in different areas. Have a large group sports devotional to begin your camp, and then let children break up into specific sports for specialized practice.
- Use a traditional VBS curriculum for your mid-week or Sunday morning programing all summer. For example, if using a five night VBS curriculum, split up the activities into two services. Following that pattern, you can have VBS once a week for 10 weeks.
