Bible Point: Jesus takes away my sin.

Bible Verse: Psalm 51:7
Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clear; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.

Materials
Water
Yellow Food Coloring
Bleach
Disposable Spoons
9 clear cups
1 large clear pitcher or glass

Preparation
Put 1/4 cup of water in eight clear cups. Add 1 drop of yellow food coloring to four of the cups and stir. Label the clear water cups “you” and the yellow water cups “sin”. Set aside one tablespoon of bleach in a clear cup. Label this cup “Jesus.”

Presentation
Put children in four groups. Give each group one clear cup of water and one yellow cup of water. Discuss the sins that can contaminate our lives (lying, stealing, disrespect, etc.). When you mention a sin, have each group add one spoonful of yellow water to their clear cup. Do this three times. Have each group bring the “you” cup, which has had yellow water added to it, and pour it into the pitcher. Hold the pitcher where all of the children can see it. Show children the bleach in the “Jesus” cup. Explain that when we ask for His forgiveness, Jesus takes away our sin. Quickly pour the bleach into the pitcher and stir. The water will turn clear again.
