resurrection rolls

Materials:

marshmallows

melted butter

cinnamon sugar

crescent rolls

Directions:

1. Explain that the marshmallows represent the body of Jesus. It was customary in Bible times to put spices on the body of someone who had died. Roll the marshmallow in butter and cinnamon sugar to symbolize Jesus’ body being covered in spices. (John 19:38-40)

2. Wrap a crescent roll around the marshmallow telling children that it symbolizes the body of Jesus being placed in a tomb. (John 19:41-42)

3. Place the crescent wrapped marshmallow on a cookie sheet and bake according to package instructions.

4. Remove the rolls and cool for 5 minutes. Allow the children to cut into the rolls and look for “Jesus.” They will discover that He is not there! Just as the roll is empty, the tomb was also empty on Easter morning. Jesus is alive!
