From Dr. Cathy Payne, Global Missions Ministries Coordinator for the Church of God of Prophecy:
We have been asked what is the progression in our efforts to assist the Bahamas in this time of great need. Here are some of the ways you can help.
We have been in contact with the national overseer daily even as communication lines were being repaired. Nassau was not hit as severely as was Great Abaco and Grand Bahama islands. National Overseer Franklin Ferguson has not been personally affected more than power outages and clean up. Our people in Great Abaco and Grand Bahama have not had communication lines restored in all areas, so we have not received information on all of our people. We are updating regularly on the Global Missions Ministries and the Church of God of Prophecy (Official) Facebook pages and our personal Facebook page as well as our Church of God of Prophecy website.
We have already sent funding from the disaster relief account to the general presbyter of the Caribbean and he forwarded those funds to the national overseer to help with the immediate needs.
Our overseer in Spanish-speaking Southeast US region is working with a non-profit group to ship needed supplies from both Tampa and Miami into the worst hit areas. We have connected pastors who lead “builder” mission teams with the national overseer so that they may help when they are ready to progress.
Our desire is to bring awareness of recovery efforts to the global Church. We have a donate button on our front page for those who would like to contribute to the effort. Please visit our donate page to help our brothers and sisters who are suffering in areas devastated by this catastrophic event. Most importantly, we are bringing awareness to immediate and strategic prayer points as people begin to dig out and recover. Please join us in this prayer effort!
