The following report by Bishop Dr. Fekadu Ayele, Overseer Ethiopia, was recently received by our Global Missions Ministries.

As we continue in our service to the Lord, I am reminded of the words of Paul, “Forgetting what is behind, reaching toward what is before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling in Christ Jesus.” In this world, there are many things that will clamor for our attention. We must set our hearts to continually focus on the Lord’s calling. If our attention is on others, the surrounding circumstances, the entrapments of the world, we will be discouraged or even defeated. If our eyes are on the Lord and His calling, we will overcome all obstacles by faith. John tells us to “love not the world.” Our love for the Lord and His calling triumphs over all other loves.

Recently, while I am serving in a very rural area, I was simply joining with them in every way, what they ate, where they slept. They compelled me to go to a hotel. I chose not to separate myself, though I had that privilege. I came as a simple servant of the Lord, not as a man of privilege. My intention was not to bring attention to myself, but they were greatly surprised and touched. The change in their spirit was noticeable. Complaining ceased and submission increased. Together, we were looking to the Lord and He was glorified.

We were so blessed to have Bishop David Bryan and Dr. Elias Rodriguez with us for SOPAS II in April. Our ministers were effectively trained in Theology, Ecclesiology, and Leadership. The only complaint was that the time with them was far too short! We had 65 ministers and leaders participate in this session of SOPAS.

The Lord blessed us with two amazing conferences in East Wollega areas of the nation, in Sibu Sire and Chingi. I took two drives, day and night due to the long distance, to attend these conferences. There were many saved and renewed commitments. Many spiritual promises came forth in prophecy and many testified of healing.

God allowed us to plant another new church during my visit in Weliso in the Addis Ababa district with approximately 300 new members. They are very zealous and motivated people for the work of the Lord. I expect them to have a great impact on their surrounding community and beyond. We now have 56 churches and 12 missions. We baptized 12 converts in Burayu. The water quality was not good, but they insisted on the baptismal. Their faith was demonstrated greatly.

My most recent visit highlighted again our need for committed, gifted servants in our local churches. At this time, we have no problem attracting new people, much like Jesus did, the multitudes are large and growing. We have a lack of people qualified in administration and organization. We are doing better at developing training for our ministers, but I am praying for God’s help in raising up local leaders who can serve in the local congregations. Please join me in praying for mature laborers to arise.

Roofing sheets is our most common building request. We simply keep this before our partners for consideration. We estimate $1000US per church. Meeting spaces are very limiting, especially in the rural areas in which we work, making roofing a nearly universal need. This is why we choose to highlight this opportunity each month, not because it is more important than other areas, such as ministry support, acquiring a national campus and training center or other humanitarian challenges, but because it is a very tangible way we can demonstrate our support to the communities in which we work.

Your regular monthly Mission Giving literally provides for the bread and water support to keep the Church of God of Prophecy functioning in Ethiopia. Thank You!

Your special Project Giving—Harvest Partners [HPL2] or Helping Hand [HH]—are also greatly appreciated and will help us fund such projects as mentioned in this newsletter. Local churches can participate in these additional fundraising efforts through Harvest Partners, and individuals through Helping Hand. Please be sure to designate your gift, e.g., Ethiopia—Building/Roofs…
