11-20-17 Loved One’s Devotion IT’S TIME FOR A CHANGE…

“Truly I tell you, UNLESS YOU CHANGE and become LIKE LITTLE CHILDREN,you WILL NEVER ENTER the kingdom of heaven.” (Matt. 18:3)

As I read this verse I sensed a seriousness that I had not noticed before, I have read this many times but today these words you will never enter struck me as something I needed to make sure that am doing, becoming like a little child! Jesus was explaining the privileges and benefits of the awesome grace of God and said:

“…I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and REVEALED THEM TO LITTLE CHILDREN…” (Matt. 11:25)

So, what does it mean that we must change and become like little children?

We need to change our mindset and think like children think. Not that we become immature and act childish, but that we accept things in simplicity. Children have a way of believing everything you say and believing it as fact.

The humility of children is very evident. It’s a beautiful thing to watch. The humility they have without even knowing it is astounding! This scripture from James is very good advice for us as little children…

WE MUST ACCEPT THINGS IN THE SIMPLICITY OF CHRIST (2 Corin 11:3)

My dear brothers and sisters, dedicating your lives to singing for Jesus: “Truly I tell you, UNLESS YOU CHANGE and become LIKE LITTLE CHILDREN,you WILL NEVER ENTER the kingdom of heaven.” (Matt. 18:3)

As I read this verse I sensed a seriousness that I had not noticed before, I have read this many times but today these words you will never enter struck me as something I needed to make sure that I am doing, becoming like a little child! The humility of children is very evident. It’s a beautiful thing to watch. The humility they have without even knowing it is astounding! This scripture from James is very good advice for us as little children…

“…Everyone should be QUICK TO LISTEN. But they should be SLOW TO SPEAK. They should be SLOW TO GET ANGRY.” (Jam. 1:19)

11-19-17 Loved One’s Devotion BE STILL AND KNOW…

My awesome, loving and wonderful Grandchildren, and Annika and Kaleigh, whom I love and pray for every day: “My brothers and sisters, you will face all kinds of trouble. When you do, THINK OF IT AS PURE JOY. Your faith will be put to the test. You know that when that happens it will produce in you THE STRENGTH TO CONTINUE. The strength to keep going must be allowed to finish its work. Then YOU WILL BE ALL YOU SHOULD BE. You will have everything you need.” (Jam. 1:2-4)

According to this scripture in order for us to have all we need along with the strength to finish our course, we will face persecution and are told to consider it “pure joy.”

This is why Jesus said: “Blessed are those WHO ARE PERSECUTED because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matt. 5:10)

INDEED, THE JOY OF THE LORD IS OUR STRENGTH

11-19-17 FaithLine Devotion THE POWERFUL JOY OF THE LORD…

My dear brothers and sisters, dedicating your lives to singing for Jesus: “My brothers and sisters, you will face all kinds of trouble. 1:2-4)

According to this scripture in order for us to have all we need along with the strength to finish our course, we will face persecution and are told to consider it “pure joy”; With this understanding:

“…all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus WILL BE PERSECUTED…” (2 Tim. 3:12)

  • Joseph had a dream showing how God would use him and went through 17 years severely suffering trials before the dream came true.
  • David faced a lion, bear and the giant Goliath before he was anointed as king.
  • Job suffered great trials losing all he had including his children and said: “Though he [God] slay me, I will hope in him…” (Job 13:15).
  • Then the followers of Jesus: “…they called in the apostles, THEY BEAT THEM AND CHARGED THEM NOT TO SPEAK IN THE NAME OF JESUS…Then they left…REJOICING THAT THEY WERE COUNTED WORTHY TO SUFFER dishonor for the name.” (Acts 5:40-41)

This is why Jesus said: “Blessed are those WHO ARE PERSECUTED because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (Matt. 5:10)

INDEED, THE JOY OF THE LORD IS OUR STRENGTH

11-18-17 Loved One’s Devotion BE STILL AND KNOW…

My awesome, loving and wonderful Grandchildren, and Annika and Kaleigh, whom I love and pray for every day: A couple years ago I volunteered to teach in our Alternative School, where students are sent to us because they could not make it in the “regular” public high school. They come here because of fighting, drugs, carrying weapons, truancy or failing classes. Often, they are ordered by the court to attend and are not really happy about being here. It is pretty much up to the teachers to come up with innovative ways to keep order in our classrooms. We are told that we need to learn to be tolerant with these students disrespect and bad language, because many of them have given up hope of being “normal” and just don’t care about what they say or do. One day, about two weeks into the semester I WAS OVERWHELMED. NOTHING I SAID OR DID WAS WORKING, so out of desperation, I said “Lord, what am I going to do to reach these heathens?” The Lord spoke to me in His wonderful still small voice and said:

BE STILL and know that I AM GOD. I WILL BE EXALTED among the heathen.(Psa. 46:10)

The next morning, I started the daily practice of anointing the door posts and chairs in my room and ASKING THE LORD TO HELP ME TO BE OVERWHELMED WITH THE “AWESOMENESS” OF GOD AND NOT THE “AWFULNESS” OF THE STUDENT’S ATTITUDEIt wasn’t long until things miraculously turned around and then I saw God’s wonderful calming presence in the lives of these students. BEING OVERWHELMED IS A TEMPTATION FOR US TO STOP TRUSTING GOD AND JUST GIVE UP.

LET’S BE OVERWHELMED KNOWING THAT HE ALWAYS CARES FOR US!

David said:

“Hear my cry, O God; ATTEND UNTO MY PRAYER…I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmedlead me to the rock that is higher than I…thou hast been A SHELTER FOR ME,AND STRONG TOWER FROM THE ENEMY.” (Psa. 61:1-3)

David realized that God was so much bigger than his problems. GOD WAS HIS PROTECTION AGAINST ANY TYPE OF DANGER. God was his strong “fortress” AND WOULD WITHSTAND ALL ATTACKS OF THE ENEMY. Instead of being overwhelmed by the attacks of the enemy, LET’S BE OVERWHELMED in our God who knows our heart, our thoughts, and our words before we speak them. LET’S BE OVERWHELMED with our God who loved us so much that:

“…He gave his one and only Son, THAT WHOEVER believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

LET’S BE OVERWHELMED with this fact: THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY, who is known as our Abba Father, wants us to spend eternity together with Him because we have: “…triumphed over him [the devil] by the blood of the Lamb…” (Rev. 12:11)

LET’S BE OVERWHELMED KNOWING THAT HE ALWAYS CARES FOR US!

11-17-17 Loved One’s Devotion THE IMPORTANCE OF HOLINESS…

My awesome, loving and wonderful Grandchildren, and Annika and Kaleigh, whom I love and pray for every day: “Make every effort to LIVE IN PEACE with everyone and to BE HOLYWITHOUT HOLINESS NO ONE WILL SEE THE LORD. See to it that no one FALLS SHORT of the grace of God and that NO BITTER ROOT GROWS UP to cause trouble and defile many.” (Heb. 12:14-15)

There are some things that will happen in our lives to assure us that we are living holy lives;

  • We will be at PEACE with everyone, no matter how we are treated.
  • We will have complete CONFIDENCE in the grace of God not falling short of any of its qualities.
  • We will not have BITTERNESS which is anger and disappointment at being treated unfairly; or resentment. You see, as long as we are in this world we are subject to unfair treatment and the natural reaction is bitterness but that IS NOT OF GOD because it causes defilement. So, if you find yourself-caught in bitterness, make restitution, go and ask forgiveness so there may be holiness

WHEN GOD COMPLETES HIS WORK, EVERY CHRISTIAN WILL BE HOLY AND PURE!!!

“Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, FOR OUR GOD IS A CONSUMING FIRE.”(Heb. 12:28-29)

Our God is a consuming fire because there is so much wickedness and ungodliness in this world that must be purged out by fire:

“By the same word the present heavens and earth ARE RESERVED FOR FIRE, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly. Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought TO LIVE HOLY AND GODLY LIVES.” (2 Pet. 3:7, 11)

11-16-17 Loved One’s Devotion WHAT IS OUR MINDSET…

My awesome, loving and wonderful Grandchildren, and Annika and Kaleigh, whom I love and pray for every day: “If then you have been raised with Christ, SEEK THE THINGS THAT ARE ABOVE, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. SET YOUR MINDS ON THINGS THAT ARE ABOVE, not on things that are on earth. For YOU HAVE DIED, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also WILL APPEAR WITH HIM IN GLORY.” (Col. 3:1-4)

A mindset is defined as a set of assumptions, methods, or notations, these are not necessarily the “things that are above”! The fact is if we are in Christ, the old man has died, and our new man is hidden with Christ in God!

“…let us make ourselves pure from everything that pollutes our bodies and spirits.LET US BE COMPLETELY HOLYWe want to honor God.” (2 Corin. 7:1)

The goal for us from Jesus is that we would live holy lives, in fact that we would be completely holy

OUR NEW MINDSET; LET US BE COMPLETELY HOLY
