COMMUNICATING WITH THE FATHER…

Spoken communication was established by God from the beginning…

“The LORD God commanded the man, saying, “From any tree of the garden you may eat freely…” (Gen. 2:16)

The devil spoke to eve and convinced her that she did not understand what God meant when He said don’t eat. Eve first then Adam disobeyed God and the Lord had a long conversation with them about the curses upon them for their disobedience.

God created us with the ability to communicate, to speak and understand one another and God. The communication process went along well until God wanted to speak to His people after He delivered them from Egyptian bondage. When God was spectacularly manifesting Himself, the people were afraid: Then they said to Moses, “Speak to us yourself and we will listen; but LET NOT GOD SPEAK TO US, or we will die.” (Exo. 20:19)

One of the most important abilities God created in us, the ability to hear Him for specific direction for our lives, was rejected by man. So, God began to speak through His leaders. “Then the anger of the LORD burned against Moses, and He said, “Is there not your brother Aaron the Levite…You are to speak to him and put the words in his mouth; and I, even I, will be with your mouth and his mouth, and I will teach you what you are to do. “Moreover, he shall speak for you to the people; and HE WILL BE AS A MOUTH FOR YOU AND YOU WILL BE AS GOD TO HIM.” (Exo. 4:14-16)

Now we have God speaking to Moses, Moses speaking to Aaron and Aaron speaking to the people.

So, what do we do to restore God’s original plan? Can we restore that plan for our lives? God revealed His plan for us about fasting. He said that when we fast the fast that God has chosen…“Then you will call, and THE LORD WILL ANSWER; You will cry, and He will say, ‘HERE I AM…” (Isa. 58:9)

We see many examples in the scripture where God spoke to David, Samuel, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel and Daniel. Then in the New Testament, one of my favorites was when God spoke to Ananias: “Now there was a disciple at Damascus named Ananias; and the Lord said to him in a vision, “Ananias.” And he said, “Here I am, Lord.” And the Lord said to him, “GET UP AND GO TO THE STREET CALLED STRAIGHT and inquire AT THE HOUSE OF JUDAS for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying…” (Acts 9:10-11) I often hear nowadays that God speaks to us through His word, I believe that as well but here we see Ananias needed an address and God SPOKE TO HIM and gave him one.

We see this phrase 12 times in the book of Revelation: “He who has an ear, LET HIM HEAR what the Spirit says to the churches…” (Rev. 2:7)

This is one of the abilities the devil has taken from us, “our being able to hear the voice of the Lord.” “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.(John 10:10)

The devil comes to steal away our belief that we can hear the voice of the Lord. Then he kills our desire that we can actually hear God’s voice, then destroys our ability to have ears to hear the voice of the Lord. Jesus says He came so we have abundant life, a better quality of communication with the giver of life. We must believe that we will take back what that the devil has taken from us and that we will have ears to hear, once again, what our creator and maker is saying to us.

MIRACLES HELP US TO TELL IT LIKE IT IS…

Peter (after the lame man walked for the first time in his life) addressed the people: “Men of Israel, why do you wonder at this, or why do you stare at us, as though by our own power or piety we have made him walk? The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, the God of our fathers, GLORIFIED HIS SERVANT JESUS…”

Imagine Peter’s excitement and boldness, he had just been used of the Lord to heal a 40 year old man who has been lame from birth. Peter acts with no explanation and no warning. He does nothing to awaken this man’s faith. He does not tell him that he first must believe and then he will be healed. Instead, Peter just speaks the word, and the power goes forth to make this man well. No one in this crowd could say that a real healing had not taken place. They all knew this man, and they all knew that he had been lame. Now, he was clearly seen walking, leaping and praising God, and they could have no doubt that something miraculous had occurred. It makes it much easier to be so bold when you have a miracle walking, leaping and praising God around you…

“…whom you delivered over and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release him. But you denied the Holy and Righteous One and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, and YOU KILLED THE AUTHOR OF LIFE, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses.(Acts 3:12-15) Then Peter lays out the truth about what they had done to Jesus and how did they respond? People started getting saved by the thousands… So, turn away from your sins. TURN TO GOD. Then your sins will be wiped away. The time will come when the Lord will make everything new.” (Acts 3:19)

WILL IT MATTER IF I QUIT CHURCH…

“…I WILL BUILD MY CHURCH, and the gates of hell shall not  1prevail against it.” (Matt. 16:18) 1katischuō: not be superior in strength, not overcome

Jesus planned for His church to be functioning on earth to carry on the work of the Lord. Right before He went to the cross He prayed and declared that He had finished His work which was the “building” of His church. The writer of Hebrews stated this: “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; and LET US CONSIDER HOW TO STIMULATE ONE ANOTHER to love and good deeds, NOT FORSAKING OUR OWN ASSEMBLING TOGETHER, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.” (Heb.  10:23-25)

The devil has done and will continue to do anything to keep us from assembling ourselves together. Church growth has declined in the USA for some time now. But we see from the history of the church: “When the day of Pentecost had come, THEY WERE ALL TOGETHER IN ONE PLACE. (Acts 2:1)

It is God’s will for us to be together…”But now God has placed the members, each one of them, IN THE BODY, just as He desired.” (1 Corin. 12:18)

I WAS GLAD WHEN THEY SAID TO ME, “LET US GO TO THE HOUSE OF THE LORD.” (Psalms 122:1)

HOW DO WE LOVE JESUS…

Simon Peter said to them, I AM 1GOING FISHING.” They said to him, “We will go with you.” They went out and got into the boat, but that night THEY CAUGHT NOTHING. (John 21:3) 1hupagó: I go away, a final departure.

Jesus was gone so, they felt their ministry was gone as well. This was a declaration that they were leaving the ministry and going back to fishing. Not a great start…

“…Jesus stood on the beach; and said to them, “Children, you do not have any fish, do you?” They answered Him, “No.” (John 21:4-5)

They were not really sure who this was“Cast the net on the right-hand side of the boat and you will find a catch.” (John 21:6) Almost instantly the net was full of great big fish, 153 in number.

Jesus then called Peter to Him near the big pile of fish and said: “…do you agapaō Me more than these?” Peter said: “Yes, Lord; You know that I philēō You.Jesus was speaking about a love of devotion, Peter was responding with a love of friendship. Jesus asked again with the same results. The third time Jesus said: “Do you even philēō me Peter?” This made Peter very unhappy. He then said: “Lord, you know all things; You know that I philēō You.” (John 21:15-17)

Here is the thing, when we just get healed or greatly blessed, we dance around and praise the Lord with real thankful hearts but when we are facing a trial of our faith we often become sad faced and often a little depressed. That is what philēō love is, loving the blessings, not the trials. What the Lord wants from us is a pure devoted love for Him. Agapaō a through it all love! HOW DO WE LOVE JESUS…

ARE WE PAYING ATTENTION TO WHAT THE WORD SAYS…

“Taking Jesus’ body, the two of them wrapped it, with the spices, in strips of linen…there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb…since the tomb was nearby, they laid Jesus there.” (John 19:40-42)

“For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man WILL BE THREE DAYS AND THREE NIGHTS in the heart of the earth.” (Matt. 12:40)

“…Simon Peter came…and went into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying there…Then the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went in, and HE SAW AND BELIEVED; for AS YET THEY DID NOT UNDERSTAND THE SCRIPTURE, that he must rise from the dead.” (John 20:6-9)

♫There ain’t no grave gonna hold my body down
When
it’s time to get up, I’m
Gonna get up outa the ground

“I saw… a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True…He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and HIS NAME IS THE WORD OF GOD.” (Rev. 19:11-13)

WHEN WE HIDE THE WORD IN OUR HEART WE ARE BEING FILLED UP WITH JESUS(Psa. 19:11)

IN THE AGE OF SO MUCH UNTRUTH, WHAT IS TRUTH…

“…Pilate said to Him, “So You are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say correctly that I am a king. For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice. Pilate said to Him,WHAT IS TRUTH? (John 18:37-38)

How would Jesus answer that question? I AM THE WAY, AND THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” (John 14:6)

There is a new age teaching that claims there is no absolute truth but: “God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and IN TRUTH.” (John 4:24)

The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are all about truth so, David said; “Teach me your way, O LORD, THAT I MAY WALK IN YOUR TRUTH…” (Psa. 86:11)

LET US BE PEOPLE OF TRUTH, LIVING AND SPEAKING TRUTH!

BELIEVERS UNDER ATTACK…

“I do not ask on behalf of these alone, but FOR THOSE ALSO WHO BELIEVE IN ME THROUGH THEIR WORD; that they may all be one; even as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that THE WORLD MAY BELIEVE that you sent me.” (John 17:20-21)

Do we believe this? According to a Barna research: Although large majorities of the public claim to be “deeply spiritual” and say that their religious faith is “very important” in their life, only 15% of those who regularly attend a Christian church ranked their relationship with God as the top priority in their life. As alarming as that finding was, its significance was magnified by research showing that on average pastors believe that 70% of the adults in their congregation consider their relationship with God to be their highest priority in life.

“We know that we are children of God, and that THE WHOLE WORLD IS UNDER THE CONTROL OF THE EVIL ONE.” (1 John 5:19) We have a great task; living the word and spreading the gospel!

Jesus responds to the Pharisees, (the religious leaders of the time) challenging them that they are not children of Abraham: You belong to your father, the devil…He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and THE FATHER OF LIES.” (John 8:44)

We are living in an age of great deception: “The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers (and of many believers as well), so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” (2 Corin. 4:4)

WE MUST SERIOUSLY CONTEND FOR THE FAITH DELIVERED TO US.
