“Behold, the LORD’S hand is not so short That it cannot save; Nor is His ear so dull That it cannot hear. They do not know the way of peace, For, their hands are defiled with blood and their fingers with iniquity; Your lips have spoken falsehood, Your tongue mutters wickedness. And there is no justice in their tracks; THEY HAVE MADE THEIR PATHS CROOKED, whoever treads on them does not know peace.” (Isaiah 59:1,8)
This world is full of wickedness and will only get worse as we draw near to the end…
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to STAND FIRM against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of WICKEDNESS IN THE HEAVENLY PLACES. Therefore, TAKE UP THE FULL ARMOR OF GOD, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, TO STAND FIRM. STAND FIRM THEN.” (Eph. 6:10-13)
We need to follow the Lord’s instructions about the full armor of God… (Eph. 6:14-18)
TEACH US LORD TO EQUIP OURSELVES FOR THE BATTLE…
“…there was a man named Cornelius…He and all his family were devout and God-fearing; he gave generously to those in need and prayed to God regularly. One day…he had a vision. He saw an angel of God, WHO SAID, “Cornelius!” “What is it, Lord?” he asked. The angel answered, “Your prayers and gifts to the poor have come up as a memorial offering before God. Now send men to Joppa to bring back a man named Simon who is called Peter. He is staying with Simon the tanner; whose house is by the sea.” (Acts 10:1-6)
The Lord [the same Lord we are serving today] is speaking to a gentile, giving him the address of where he will find Peter. Now Peter went up to the roof where he was staying, and the Lord gave him a vision about gentiles not being unclean and illegal to associate with…
“While Peter was wondering about the meaning of the vision, the men sent by Cornelius stopped at the gate. They called out, asking for Peter…THE SPIRIT SAID TO HIM, “Simon, three men are looking for you.” (Acts 10:17-19)
Peter left with these men to go to the home of Cornelius, knowing that it was illegal to enter the home of a gentile. Peter found a home full of people who had found Jesus, he preached to them and they were sanctified and filled with the Holy Spirit, then baptized in water.
PLEASE LORD TEACH US ONCE AGAIN TO HEAR FROM YOU…
“Be good to your servant while I live, that I MAY OBEY YOUR WORD. OPEN MY EYES, that I MAY BEHOLD WONDERFUL THINGS from Your 1law.” (Psa. 119:17-18) 1Torah: instruction or teaching
David knew personally that the instruction and teachings of the Lord held great treasures. Much of the 119th Psalm acknowledged these wonders that were so precious to David, he declared, “I have HIDDEN YOUR WORD IN MY HEART that I might not sin against you.” (Psa. 119:11)
I was inspired to start ministering by these devotions about 11 years ago because the Lord showed me that the Word of God is indeed wonderful, deep, instructing, powerful, life changing, needed every day and unfortunately THE DEVIL SEES TO IT THAT WE IGNORE IT. Listen to what is said about The Word:
“EVERY WORD OF GOD IS FLAWLESS…” (Pro. 30:5) “Blessed are those who hear the word of God and OBEY IT.” (Luke 11:28) “Take the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.” (Eph. 6:17) “For the WORD OF GOD IS LIVING AND POWERFUL and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing apart of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a 1discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Heb. 4:12) 1kritikos: able to judge. “I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True [Jesus]. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is THE WORD OF GOD.” (Rev. 19:11-13)
LET US LIVE THE WORD BECAUSE WE LOVE THE WORD…
“As Solomon grew old, HIS WIVES TURNED HIS HEART AFTER OTHER GODS, and his heart was not fully devoted to the LORD his God, as the heart of David his father had been…The LORD became angry with Solomon because his heart had turned away from the LORD, the God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice.” (1 Kings 11:4, 9)
The Lord God always expects us to be obedient and loyal to Him. No matter how much good Solomon did, in the end he yielded to the devil and turned away from God. Because of Solomon’s disobedience God punished the people of God because they turned away as well.
“I will do this because they have forsaken me and worshiped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Molek the god of the Ammonites, and HAVE NOT WALKED IN OBEDIENCE TO ME, nor done what is right in my eyes, nor kept my decrees and laws as David, Solomon’s father, did.” (1 Kings 11:33)
We must beware because the devil is continuously trying to destroy us by tempting us to disobey God. We must love the Lord with all our heart, soul mind and strength…
ALL TO YOU LORD I SURRENDER, I SURRENDER MY ALL TO YOU…
“Now for some time a man named Simon had practiced 1sorcery in the city and amazed all the people of Samaria. He boasted that he was someone great, and all the people, both high and low, gave him their attention and exclaimed, “This man is rightly called the Great Power of God.” They followed him because HE HAD AMAZED THEM FOR A LONG TIME WITH HIS SORCERY.” (Acts 8:9-11) 1mageia: magic, magic arts
This deceiver was practicing magic, amazing people and exalting himself as one using God’s great power. Philip comes to town with the real power of God, many get saved, supposedly Simon but did he really turn himself over to God? Well, Peter and John came to town to teach about the Holy Spirit…
“Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit. When Simon saw that the Spirit was given at the laying on of the apostles’ hands, HE OFFERED THEM MONEY and said, “Give me also this ability so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 8:17-19)
Peter said: “…your money will be destroyed with you!” You can’t buy God’s gift with money?” All of God’s gifts are freely given by faith distributed by God to whom He chooses, for His glory…
MAKE US WILLING VESSELS TO BE USED OF YOU LORD…
“…you are a mere man. SO, WHO ARE YOU TO TALK BACK TO GOD? Scripture says, “Can what is made say to the one who made it, ‘Why did you make me like this?'” Isn’t the potter free to make different kinds of pots out of the same lump of clay? Some are for special purposes. Others are for ordinary use.” (Rom. 9:20-21)
Imagine, there was a time before creation when it was the Father, the Word and the Holy Spirit; everything was perfect, then God created man out of what He had, He formed man with perfect working parts and breathed into him the breath of life and man became a living soul. “So, whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” (1 Corin. 10:31) He made us to worship and be obedient to Him…
“Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! “Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?” “Who has ever given to God, that God should repay them?” FOR FROM HIM AND THROUGH HIM AND FOR HIM ARE ALL THINGS. TO HIM BE THE GLORY FOREVER! AMEN.” (Rom. 11:33-36)
WE ARE FROM GOD AND WE ARE CREATED FOR GOD
“The LORD has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes.” (Psa. 118:23)
When Randy Howard was the General Overseer he assigned a prayer team, which I was very privileged, along with sister Elva Howard and others, to be a part of. We would meet once a month until it got close to Assembly time, then we would meet weekly. During one of these intense prayer times at Elva’s home, one very dear brother fell out on the floor lost all his bodily functions and as I was about to say to myself “oh no my brother has…” I was interrupted by a very authoritative and loud “DEVIL I REBUKE YOU IN THE NAME OF JESUS.” It was sister Elva and it instilled in all of us a confidence that what we asked the Lord to do He would do! So, we all began praying and God raised our brother up. We were all so thankful to be taught the power of prayer by this awesome woman of God.
Elva Howard definitely was, “…in all respects a MODEL OF GOOD WORKS, and in HER teaching showed integrity, dignity, and sound speech that cannot be condemned…” (Titus 2:7-8)
“In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I GO TO PREPARE A PLACE FOR YOU.” (John 14:2)
Heaven will be a place of glorious life that will never end. Joy inexpressible, limitless peace, pure love, beauty beyond description—that’s what heaven is. Utmost of all will be the presence of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, with whom we will enjoy fellowship forever.
“We will hunger no longer, or thirst anymore; or will the sun beat down on us, or any heat; for the Lamb in the center of the throne will be our shepherd and will guide us to springs of the water of life; and God will wipe every tear from our eyes.” (Rev. 7:16-17) Everything we will ever need will be ours, forever…
“We have the Holy Spirit as the promise of future blessing. But we also groan inside ourselves as we look forward to the time when God will adopt us as full members of his family. THEN HE WILL GIVE US EVERYTHING HE HAS FOR US. HE WILL RAISE OUR BODIES AND GIVE GLORY TO THEM.” (Rom. 8:22-23)
♫Won’t it be wonderful there
Having no burdens to bear
Joyously singing, with heartbells all ringing
Won’t it be wonderful there?
The next day the rulers, the elders and the teachers of the law met in Jerusalem. Annas the high priest was there…They had Peter and John brought before them and began to question them: “BY WHAT POWER OR WHAT NAME DID YOU DO THIS?” Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said: “Rulers and elders of the people! If we are being called to account today for an act of kindness shown to a man who was lame and are being asked how he was healed, then know this, you and all the people of Israel: IT IS BY THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST OF NAZARETH, WHOM YOU CRUCIFIED but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed. SALVATION IS FOUND IN NO ONE ELSE, for THERE IS NO OTHER NAME UNDER HEAVEN GIVEN TO MANKIND BY WHICH WE MUST BE SAVED.” (Acts 4:5-12)
The Imperils released “Oh Buddha” in 1979:
♫No, it won’t be old Buddha that’s sitting on the throne
And it won’t be old Mohammed that’s calling us Home
And it won’t be Hare Krishna that plays that trumpet tune
And WE’RE GOING TO SEE THE SON not Reverend Moon!
When we pastored in Sedro Woolley, Washington a couple brothers and myself, in my local church sang this song. It has special interest to me because I had just been saved for a little while and felt that I had a good understanding that by no other name under heaven could we be saved.
IN THE NAME OF JESUS, BE STRONG IN THE LORD…
“…THE LORD HATES: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.” (Prov. 6:16-19) Because of these sins, our names would not be written in the “Book of Life” Then at the judgement: “Anyone whose name was not written in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire.” (Rev. 20:15)
You might be tempted to say, “I am safe, I have not done any of these but: “…ALL HAVE SINNED and fall short of the glory of God…Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man (Adam), and death through sin, and so death spread to all men BECAUSE ALL SINNED” (Rom. 3:23, 5:12)
You see, we are born into sin, it is in our DNA! Adam and Eve chose to disobey God (when they had it all). The devil lied to them and convinced them to be disobedient to God. Then “sin” became a part of their nature, so all who are born, inherit this sin nature. So, what is our remedy to rid ourselves of this nature? “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but HAVE ETERNAL LIFE.” (John 3:16) We are forgiven but we need to get rid of the sin nature, through sanctification, “…our old self was CRUCIFIED WITH CHRIST so that it would put an end to sin in our bodies…” (Rom. 6:6)
- THANK GOD I AM FREE, FREE, FREE FROM THIS WORLD OF SIN,
- WASHED IN THE BLOOD OF JESUS, I’VE BEEN BORN AGAIN;
