THE MOST IMPORTANT THING!

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING!

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but MY WORDS WILL NEVER PASS AWAY.” (Mark 13:31)

Therefore it is so important for us to be as David, “I have hidden your word IN MY HEART so that I won’t sin against you.” (Psalms 119:11)

Then, the Lord tells us: Whoever makes an offering of praise gives glory to me; and to him who is upright in his ways I will make clear the salvation of God.” (Psalms 50:23)

This is what is illustrated in the following incident:

“While Jesus was in Bethany…a woman came with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, made of pure nard. SHE BROKE THE JAR AND POURED THE PERFUME ON HIS HEAD.” (Mark 14:3)

This woman didn’t bring a potluck dish to this dinner they were having, but she did bring a “beautiful alabaster jar filled with expensive perfume.” This wasn’t some cheap bottle of perfume; it would have cost about a year’s worth of wages. For this perfume to cost so much, it must have had a beautiful scent. But what really pleased the LORD was this woman DEMONSTRATING HER LOVING HEART.

Some of the people there became angry. They said to one another, “Why waste this perfume?” (Mark 14:4)

Jesus knew her heart and said to those present:  “Leave her alone,” said Jesus. “Why are you bothering her? She has done a beautiful thing to me…She did what she could. She poured perfume on my body beforehand TO PREPARE FOR MY BURIAL.” (Mark 14:6-8)

This woman showed what keeping the first and greatest commandment was all about:

“You shall love the Lord your God with ALL your heart and with ALL your soul and with ALL your mind.” (Matt. 22:37)

Let’s demonstrate our love for Jesus today…Bill Stockham

CALLED AND EQUIPPED!

CALLED AND EQUIPPED!

[Joshua was about to take over leadership of the people of God, after the death of Moses. So our Abba Father spoke these words to him to encourage him!]

BE STRONG AND COURAGEOUS, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them. BE STRONG AND VERY COURAGEOUS. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; DO NOT TURN FROM IT to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.” (Josh. 1:6-7)

[Now, Joshua was going to be the one with the responsibility to lead God’s people. There was no one higher to pass problems and decisions up to. There is an enormous difference between being an executive officer carrying out the orders of someone else and BEING THE ACTUAL DECISION MAKER!]

“Keep this Book of the Law [their bible] always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful TO DO EVERYTHING WRITTEN IN IT. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? BE STRONG AND COURAGEOUS. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for THE LORD YOUR GOD WILL BE with you WHEREVER YOU GO.” (Josh. 1:8-9)

[Obey me Joshua, keep my word, DO WHAT MY WORD SAYS to do AND TEACH OTHERS TO DO THE SAME.]

“Then they answered Joshua, “Whatever you have commanded us WE WILL DO, and wherever you send us WE WILL GO. Just as we fully obeyed Moses, so we will obey you. Only may the LORD your God BE WITH YOU AS HE WAS WITH MOSES.” (Josh. 1:16-17)

[How important it is for us to seek the Lord for guidance, wisdom and knowledge when we are placed in a leadership position. We are RESPONSIBLE TO GOD for the people we are leading!]

“Whoever rebels against your word and does not obey it, whatever you may command them, will be put to death. ONLY BE STRONG AND COURAGEOUS!” (Josh. 1:18)

[This is the 4th time God used these words “BE STRONG AND COURAGEOUS” It seems that STRENGTH (spiritual strength) and COURAGE (godly courage) are important characteristics for us!]

WE ARE TO DO ALL THAT GOD HAS INSTRUCTED US TO DO!

Be blessed as you praise The Lord, knowing that:

WE CAN BE STRONG AND COURAGEOUS IN THE LORD!

WHAT SHALL WE PRAY FOR?

WHAT SHALL WE PRAY FOR?

“This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, YOUR WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven.” (Matt. 6:9-10)

Before we go any further, is God’s will being done ON earth? No! Who is the god of this world?

“…the god OF THIS WORLD [the devil] has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” (2 Corin. 4:4)

So, what is the proper way to pray this prayer? The KJV says it this way: “Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done IN earth, as it is in heaven.” (Matt. 6:10). Many years ago, when I was learning how to pray, I started with the Lord’s prayer from the KJV and prayed “IN earth” not really understanding what that meant. I noticed that when people would quote this on television they would say “ON earth” The next morning as my prayer started and I came to IN earth I asked the Lord to help me understand and this is what He spook to me:

“Bill, you are my earthen vessel… “But we have this treasure IN EARTHEN VESSELS, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.” (2 Corin. 4:7) My will is not being done on earth but my will may be done IN my earthen vessels so, that is why you should pray: “IN earth” because I want my will to be done IN you“…do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that YOU [your life] MAY PROVE [be proof of] WHAT THE WILL OF GOD IS, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.” (Rom. 12:2).

LET YOUR LIFE BE PROOF OF GOD’S WILL!!!

Come kingdom of God, be done will of God IN me…Bill Stockham

SUBMIT TO GOD, RESIST THE DEVIL!

SUBMIT TO GOD, RESIST THE DEVIL!

[We know that there is a battle going on for the “right” to our souls. Our Abba Father wants to lead us to Him so our soul will belong to Him; the devil just wants to keep us from submitting to God!]

“…God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” (James 4:6)

[To oppose someone means that you are in conflict with them, so God is in conflict with us when we submit to the spirit of pride!]

“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and HE WILL FLEE FROM YOU.” (James 4:7)

[He cannot conquer us if we continue to resist. As strong as the devil is, God never permits him to overcome the person who continues to resist him; he cannot force the human will. When we, in the wonderful name of Jesus, oppose even the devil himself, there is sure to be a SPEEDY AND GLORIOUS CONQUEST. He flees from the name of Jesus, and from his conquering blood.]

“COME NEAR TO GOD AND HE WILL COME NEAR TO YOU…” (James 4:8)

[Approach our Abba Father, in the name of Jesus, by faith and prayer, and he will always be there – he will meet us at OUR coming. When a soul sets out to seek God, God sets out to meet that soul; so in God’s faithfulness, while we are drawing near to him, He is always near to us, why? Because He will NEVER leave us or forsake us!!!]

“For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, SO THAT YOU MAY LIVE A LIFE WORTHY OF THE LORD and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.” (Col. 1:9-12)

[I join Paul in this prayer for you today; be richly blessed and MAY YOU PROSPER in all you do for Jesus today!]

SUBMIT, SURRENDER TO, GIVE IN TO GOD AND THE DEVIL WILL FLEE!

Be blessed as you praise The Lord, knowing that:

WE MAY LIVE A LIFE WORTHY OF THE LORD EVERY DAY!

HOW DO WE DESCRIBE GOD?

HOW DO WE DESCRIBE GOD?

1GREAT IS THE LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness. (Psalms 48:1) 1gâdôl: distinguished, great in intensity, in importance, magnificent, awesome.

The word great means more than size. It’s also a measure of quality, and this dual understanding applies to what God promises to do for us. Why are God’s promises great? First, because they come from an AWESOMELY GREAT AND WONDERFUL GOD. His promises are enormous because of who said them. Would you believe your five-year-old child if they said in his best grown-up voice, “I promise I’ll make enough money to put food on the table next month”? A promise’s reliability is tied to the one who is making the commitment—and to their ability to fulfill it.

Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, obtaining the outcome of your faith, the SALVATION OF YOUR SOULS.” (1 Peter 1:8-9)

What an awesome promise, eternal salvation and along the way…

” His divine power has granted to us ALL THINGS that pertain to life and godliness…which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them we may become partakers of His divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.” (2 Peter 1:3-4)

We might as well admit we don’t have a clue how great God is, no one can discover the limits of His greatness because there are none. But His promises allow us to explore and experience a measure of how great He really is.

LORD, you are great. You are extremely worthy of praise. No one can completely understand HOW GREAT YOU ARE.” (Psalms 145:3)

Let’s just take some time expressing God’s greatness…Bill Stockham

03-05-17 Devotion (For my grandchildren)

[My awesome, loving and wonderful Grandchildren, whom I love and pray for every dayAs we have most affectionately received the doctrine of Christ; and confess to be partakers of divine faith in Him, that promises spiritual and eternal things; let us SEEK THE THINGS ABOVE, and look to be ready for the pleasure that comes along with them.]

“Therefore, if you have been raised up with Christ, KEEP SEEKING THE THINGS ABOVE, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.” (Col. 3:1)

[Be very sincere for the heavenly and eternal things, just as you have been for things that are earthly and perishing.]

“Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. For you have died and YOUR LIFE IS HIDDEN WITH CHRIST IN GOD.” (Col. 3:2, 3)

[Remember, Stephanie, Ethan, Camden, Olivia, Aidan, Landon and Kinsley what you have heard, and PRACTICE it each day; and let all your obedience be from your heart: “Let your heart keep my commandments.”!]

“My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, for THEY WILL PROLONG YOUR LIFE many years and bring you peace and prosperity. LET LOVE AND FAITHFULNESS NEVER LEAVE YOU; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then YOU WILL WIN FAVOR AND A GOOD NAME IN THE SIGHT OF GOD and man.” (Pro. 3:1-4)

[Be confident in the Lord, for God is not the author of confusion! So, lean on Him (He created all things and knows how they work). We can’t depend upon our own understanding (we haven’t created anything!), so in all we do, let’s trust in Him! We also need to surrender to Him in all we do and HE WILL SEE TO IT THAT WE ARE ON THE RIGHT PATH!]

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and HE WILL MAKE YOUR PATHS STRAIGHT.” (Pro. 3:5-6)

WHAT CAN I SAY?

WHAT CAN I SAY?

Yesterday, I STRUGGLED IN PRAYER about what to write in my morning devotion about the scripture the Lord inspired me with: “God is our refuge and strength, an EVER-PRESENT HELP IN TROUBLE…” (Psalms 46:1)

The Lord led me to the story of Robert de Bruce and how he prayed and the Lord saved him using a spider’s web. Later that day I received this text message from my daughter’s mother-in-law: I loved the devotion today as always. Robert de Bruce was my 19th great grandfather-Blake’s 20th and the kids (my grandchildren’s) 21st. As I thought about this, the Lord reminded me of the great trouble my daughter, Amy was headed for. An ungodly boy used my daughter and she became pregnant, as a junior in high school, the boy hung round for a while continued to take advantage as my wife and I diligently sought the Lord. God delivered her and saved her, Camden was born and soon developed Guillain-Barre syndrome, could no longer walk or move his arms, we were told by the doctor that he would probably never walk again and sent him home from the hospital. My large family is a praying family (we have witnessed many miraculous answers to prayers), we all began to diligently seek the Lord. Well, just after being home a few days, we heard a ruckus in the hall and all the kids were running up and down the hall, including Camden! Soon, a wonderful man, Blake, came into Amy’s life, they were married! Blake, included Camden in the ceremony and later adopted him, they went on to have 4 more children and as Robert de Bruce’s descendant, Blake has prayed a web of protection over his family! This is a prayer I pray for my family…

“Now I COMMIT YOU TO GOD and to the word of his grace, which can BUILD YOU UP and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified. (Acts 20:32)

Let’s thank God for our families…Bill Stockham
