From the General Overseer

R HowardMany may remember that the son of our Overseer in Rwanda was killed when he ran out of school, into the street, and was struck down by a car. Now several months later this wonderful email describes the response of a genuine child of God.

Dear Brethren,
Greetings from Rwanda in Jesus name.

I sincerely want to thank you for standing with us at that critical time when our son went to be with the Lord.

However the Bible says that every thing works out for the better of those who love the Lord, because the death of Joshua caused the awareness that there is nothing greater than God because the man who knocked Joshua was a prominent rich politician  here and according to the stories we have heard he has been knocking people and running away or bribing his way to avoid being arrested but this time he could not buy his way out  or run away because he was followed up by the court and was  found after 4 days, put in prison for the first time, because it was quickly known that he had knocked the son of the Bishop who has a wife who is a judge.

Every body wondered how this man was arrested because he was untouchable. For us we know that all what happened was to humble this arrogant person to know that God was above money and positions in this world .His wife and family members came to seek forgiveness and we told them we had forgiven the man who caused the accident because we know that the Lord took Joshua home. Eventually the man himself was humbled to come and ask for forgiveness from the family and we forgave him and we withdrew the case and he went home free.

Thank you, I just wanted to inform you of the other side of the tragedy because it may be that God can use the situation to bring someone to his senses because we witnessed to him and we are praying for him to accept the Lord.

May the Lord bless you very much.

Church Member Among Wounded at Fort Hood, TX

johnsonJustin Timothy Johnson, a member of the Punta Gorda, Florida Church of God of Prophecy, was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas last week when shots rang out across the military base killing and injuring a number of military personnel.  At the time of the shootings, Justin was on the telephone with his mother Jeannie also a member at Punta Gorda. While on the telephone with her son, Jeannie heard the shots being fired. Fear overcame her as silence crossed the phone lines.  Justin had been shot twice by the attacker.  Despite being shot in his foot and chest, Justin sprang into action attempting to help the many wounded and frightened people around him.

Thanks to the prayers of his family, church, and saddened nation, as well as the care of his doctors, Justin's healing has progressed rapidly. He has been removed from a ventilator and will soon be released from the Critical Care unit.

Through the care and generosity of his local church family, Justin's pastor, grandmother, and brother were able to travel to Texas to be with him.  In addition to tending to Justin, Pastor Danny Hurlburt has also been able to gain amazing access to minister to the other wounded soliders and their families.

Justin is being celebrated as a hero. In the days since the attack he was visited by and received speaking recognition by President George W. Bush.  He also received a visit from President Barack Obama.  Justin's story has also been featured on the national news, including ABC, CBS, and CNN.

Please continue to pray for Justin, as well as all of the families touched by the tragedy at Fort Hood.

A fund has been established to assist Justin's family with their expenses.  Donations to his fund may be made by mailing:
