International Institute of Children's Ministry
Peru 2009
On Thursday morning, February 5, 2009 children’s ministers came together from throughout Peru for the first Institute of Children’s Ministry. 45 children’s ministers attended every session of the Institute which was held in conjunction with the National Convention.
The Institute was supported by the national Children’s Ministry team led by Mariamne Alvino Sanchez and by a US team that included Kathy Creasy, Roddy Cooper, Tim Winters, and Michelle Young.
A highlight of the Institute was the powerful ministry of the Holy Spirit during the Spiritual Formation sessions each morning. The participants also enjoyed the interactive learning of important ministry skills such as Laying a Foundation for Ministry, Creating a Bible Lesson, Leading a Child to Christ, and Developing a Discipleship Plan.
Our team was also excited to participate in Peru’s national convention with an attendance of more than 25,000 as well as visit several sites where excellent ministry to children is ongoing such as the La Molina Soup Kitchen and the Linda Baker School. We also served alongside twelve children’s ministry leaders in the Piura district at a two-day camp for children.
