Overseers/Pastors, Appoint a Stewardship Ministries’ Director in Your State/Local Church
The Lord has given vision to the General Overseer to train
leaders. Leadership training with emphasis on pastoral leadership is one of
three core values for the Church of God of Prophecy.
As the Stewardship Ministries’ Director, I am seeking to
share this vision. Going forward, training sessions will be made available to
encourage, train, mentor, and assist state/regional or local church Stewardship
Ministries’ Directors.
It is important to begin now to choose someone to develop
this ministry in your state or local church.
Every church could benefit from a Stewardship Ministries’ Director
or a Stewardship Pastor. Prayerfully, be lead to the person that God desires to
use in this somewhat unique ministry.
If you are a person who is being drawn to Stewardship Ministries,
prayerfully seek the Lord to open the door for you to fulfill this calling.
A Stewardship Ministries’ Director should:
- Be a
good steward, consistent tither and giver over and above the tithe.
- Handle
his/her personal finances well (example: good credit, etc.)
- If
possible, be an anointed giver. About 4% of people making up the Body,
profess giving to be their primary giftedness. These people are usually
good at business, conservative in their life style, and give generously.
- Be
able to assist in receiving an offering.
- Promote
a stewardship emphasis month.
- Serve
on the Stewardship/Finance Committee.
- Have a
teachable spirit.
- Be
able to communicate the blessings of good stewardship in a non-legalistic
way.
- Be
able to offer help in personal finance areas, such as budget, retirement
planning, and debt reduction.
- Understand
tax advantages of a pastor’s good compensation package.
Stewardship is God’s way of raising people, not man’s way of raising money. Through learning how to give, God is working in us to help us become the people He wants us to be. Stewardship is God’s order for man’s relationship to God. It is a heart issue; a discipleship issue. Shouldn’t something this important warrant a position for someone who is called to minister biblical principles of stewardship in your church?
