African Harvest Cry: Revival Surging
Bishop Sherman Allen wrote in his most recent newsletter to the leadership of Africa mentioning a few places where new surges of revival have been experienced. Below is a portion of his report to his leaders.
Democratic Republic of Congo
“I am requesting you to pray for the means to reap another phase of the massive revival now taking place in the DRC (Democratic Republic of the Congo). This revival has shown absolutely no sign of ending. Instead, it is growing in intensity. Bishop Ntambwe Beya has informed me that six more areas in this vast country have caught the fire of the revival namely: Kalemie, Manono, Moba, Kabalo, Nyunzu and Kindu. People are getting saved like their Pentecost has come and many thousands of new converts are awaiting baptism and spiritual formation/discipleship.
Bishop Beya has several teams of workers going from place to place throughout the country to do the work of the ministry. Even these teams are overwhelmed from the vast distances they have to travel walking, or by trucks, taxies, donkeys, (by train when the trains are working).
Benin
Pray also for Bishop Kadato Richard in Benin, who took in over three hundred new members during his national convention but will now have to travel from village-to-village to administer the covenant to well over eighteen hundred more. These are all new people several of these are presently worshipping under trees, using pieces of tin to shelter from the rain when it falls. This very month marks the beginning of the rain season so there will be major problems for our bishop to attend to.
It is obvious that this is harvest time in Africa and many reports such as this over the year have led us to raise the African Harvest Cry to promote this special Assembly offering for this part of our body. They find themselves in the midst of one of the great reaping seasons in the world. Obviously the Spirit is stirring the hearts of the lost. You can see in these words that there are not enough laborers, and those available are running to do all they can. We can help them through this offering and thus further the awesome Kingdom building effort going on.
Based on these words, along with many other reports of huge gospel progress, my petition to the Church of God of Prophecy for this Assembly is to join these brothers by giving abundantly to the Africa Harvest Cry effort.
This African Harvest Cry offering will be used for Harvest Activity, Leadership Development, and Church Buildings. If individuals respond to this call to give graciously, if each small church could set aside $25 to $50 each of the four months before the Assembly, and if larger churches could do all they can through these months, we could present over $200,000 to Bishop Sherman Allen to support the critical African Harvest Cry. Harvest Partner churches can send this offering as a Harvest Partner Level Two offering. Individual donors and churches that are not Harvest Partners can send this offering as a Helping Hands offering. Both avenues should be clearly designated as “Africa Harvest Cry” offerings. We are giving to align with what God is already doing in Africa.
