Passing of Jose A. Payano
Cathy Payne, International Women's Ministries Director share the following information and prayer request:
We announce with sadness the death
of Jose A. Payano, long time resident of Amsterdam, New York. Jose, best
known as "Jochy" (a nickname given to him by his grandmother when he was a
child), was killed by a gunman last week. Jochy is the son of Jose
and Felicia Payano, pastors of our the local Church of God of Prophecy in Post,
Texas.
The local newspaper noted that
Jochy was well known and well liked in the community, and described him
as a quiet person who didn't cause trouble, a good dad, and a true and loyal
friend.
A personal account from the
paper noted that "he was right there for everybody. If you needed help, Jochy would come.
You couldn't find a better guy."
Serving as a local barber and car
fixit-man, Jochy had the opportunity to touch and influence many lives.
This was obvious from the community support evidenced at the funeral. The church was
filled to capacity with standing room only for the many visitors who came to express
their respect and sympathy to the family.
Please remember his family in
prayer as they move through this difficult time.
