Northeast Caribbean Regional Leadership Development Institute
The Northeast Caribbean Region (British Virgin Islands, U. S. Virgin Islands, ABC Islands) hosted a Leadership Development Institute on Tortola, British Virgin Islands, March 24 -29, 2008. It was a first for the Region and, with the exception of St. Thomas in the USVI, every church in the Region was represented. The course, Relational Foundations: Experiencing Relevance in Life and Ministry, was taught in both English and Spanish. Ninety two (92) students participated in the English class and fifty (50) in the Spanish class.
Bishops Larry Duncan and Phillip Pruitt led the separate classes in exploring and experiencing the truths communicated in the Great Commandment and the Great Commission. The Holy Spirit was present in every session to peel back the layers and reveal the hidden truths of Christ’s message. Presented with the reality of the urgent, empowering and unconditional nature of God’s love, students were enlightened, inspired, and motivated to fulfill the Great Commandment and to eagerly embrace the Great Commission.
LDI was a wonderful week of immersion in God’s Love and in His Word. We were challenged first to love God as we ought, and then to love others as He loves us. None of us could ever again be the same!
